Cinematic Fire Simulation Pipeline for Unreal Engine 5

Spirit Slayer X3D Zenithavgcxr fire simulation(unreal engine)

We developed a cinematic fire simulation pipeline for Unreal Engine 5, designed to support stylized-realistic flame behavior, production lighting, controllable art direction, and shot-ready delivery for Spirit Slayer.

Problem

The fire had to feel:

Dangerous

Supernatural

Physically believable

Art-directable

Consistent across
shots

Optimized for
Unreal Engine 5

Our workflow is designed around a controlled handoff between garment simulation and real-time engine presentation. The process allows us to preserve cloth realism from the authoring stage while preparing the asset for Unreal Engine-based rendering, interaction, and cinematic output.

Challenge

Default fire effects were not enough because
cinematic shots need more control over

Flame shape

Smoke visibility

Color temperature

Ember density

Glow intensity

Light spill

Solution

Zenith built a custom Unreal Engine 5 fire simulation pipeline using Niagara, optimized materials, layered particle behavior, cinematic lighting, and shot-based tuning.

Result

The pipeline was successfully implemented and delivered inside Spirit Slayer, supporting high-quality cinematic fire visuals while keeping the effect manageable for production.
